Frederick Lincoln Emory
Frederick Lincoln Emory was the first head college football coach for the West Virginia University Mountaineers located in Morgantown, West Virginia and he held that position for the 1891 season.[1] His coaching record at West Virginia was 0 wins, 1 loss, and 0 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2007 season, this ranks him 32nd at West Virginia in total wins and 32nd at West Virginia in winning percentage (.000).[2]
The single game that he coached was on November 28, 1891 against Washington and Jefferson College. The Mountaineers lost by a score of 72 to zero,[3] the second-worst loss in the history of the program (as of completion of the 2009 season).[4]
